- Have completed at minimum one year of college Spanish or the equivalent for Engineering and Pre-Health.

VISAS:
If you are applying for a visa at any consulate other than Washington DC or Miami, you will HAVE to make an appointment with the consulate to turn in your visa application. You may be assigned an appointment a month or two after you make the request and the visa could take 8 weeks to be processed, so you will need to plan carefully. A list of the consulates and the regions they serve is available here:
(click on "Embassy" then on "Consulates")
You do not have to wait until you are accepted into the program to make an appointment. Once accepted you will be sent a visa packet with the list of requirements, the visa application form, and the required program documentation.
NOTICE: Students who wish to participate in a semester service learning internship in a school will need a state level background or criminal records check. Students who will be studying in Valencia for a full academic year are REQUIRED TO GET AN FBI CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK.
Please be aware that the state or FBI background checks take approximately 12 weeks. It is suggested that students considering the full academic year abroad request this document as soon as they decide to participate in the program to allow for the lengthy processing time. Please contact Liz Wellbeloved for more information about the background check requirements.
